Here we have a small selection of tail wheel aircraft noted in the last couple of weeks.
Above is the Wanaka based Auster J-1B Autocrat ZK-AOB (c/n 2166) as owned by Brian Hore from Nokomai Station. This was imported as an Auster J-1 by the NZ agents, Boon and Co Ltd and registered on 19-02-1947 for delivery to Eric Grey of Hokianga in June. It went through a long succession of well known NZ aviation personalities; including Faranty Desborough (who converted it to a J-1B with Gipsy Major engine and larger rudder), Aerial Spraying (NZ) Ltd, Syd Jensen Motors, Brian Hore (for the first time in 1962), North Otago Aero Club, Paul Legg, the Prouting family, J E N Quaife, N A Black, J H Richards, B W Aubrey, R H McGarry and the ZK-AOB syndicate. It was cancelled in November 1991 until being restored back to Brian Hore on 24-12-2001. As seen at Wanaka on 05-04-2012.
One of the very latest "real" aeroplanes to join our register is this Cub Crafters CC11-160 ZK-BPC2 (c/n CC11-00194) for Bruce and Peter Clulow of Wanaka - first registered here on 10-02-2012.

ZK-BSH started life as a Piper PA-22-150 Caribbean in 1960, imported by Airwork (NZ) Ltd for the Rotorua Aero Club. It has been pretty well covered in an earlier blog at:-

Here we have Chris Rudge manually turning over his Wasp engine on the Grumman G-164A AgCat ZK-CAT2 (c/n 1418) prior to engine start. This photo was sent in by Matt Hayes and taken at Pukaki on 14-04-2012.
Nice to see back in the air again is Nigel Forrester's Australian Aviation Works Karatoo J6C ZK-KTN (c/n J6 661) as seen at Rangiora on 18-04-2012.
