The Auckland Chapter of the SAANZ held a fly-in/chapter meeting at Russ Ward's Kelly Field at Mercer yesterday. Russ operates his Taylorcraft under American regulations, and has a hangar full of other American sport and historical aircraft that will keep him busy restoring for many years!
Russ's Taylorcraft NC 44022. I am sorry but I do not know the model.
Bruce McDonald flew his Piel CP 328 Super Emeraude up from his strip South of Te Awamutu. You can see Russ Ward's large hangar in the background.
Gary Mitchell flew his Fisher Dakota Hawk ZK-SOL down from North Shore,
And Nowell Izard flew his Wittman Tailwind ZK-RET from Te Awamutu.
Technam P 2004 Bravo ZK-TNM came from Parakai,
And the earlier model Technam P 92 JS ZK-TJS flew in from Pukekohe.
A lovely day to be flying!

N44022 is a 1946 Model BC-12D, with its original 65hp Continental A65 engine. As the aircraft is extremely light it flies surprisingly well desite the low HP.
