Up to this point in the story of Jodel D 11's in New Zealand, registrations were issued alphabetically through the ZK-C's, ZK-D's, ZK-E's and ZK-F's, even though they did not necessarily fly in that order. However, from the ZK-J's all the D 11's had personalised registrations.
ZK-JON (c/n AACA/426/1) was commenced by Jack Godfrey (who later built D 18 ZK-JAC), but it was completed by John Smith of Whatawhata and was first registered on 27/6/80. Its first flight was on 26/7/80. It was sold to RG Lee of Waipukurau on 11/1/83, and it is still owned by him, but based at Tauranga. The above photo was taken at an airshow at Matamata in 1991.
ZK-JSC (c/n AACA/475) was built by John S Currie of Te Anau and was first registsred on 9/2/82. As can be seen it has the spring steel undercarriage mod. It is photo'd above at the 1983 AACA flyin at Paraparaumu. It was sold to MJ Wareham of Kaikoura on 19/5/87 and then to the JS Currie Family Trust of Christchurch on 15/7/93. Finally it was sold to JL Street of New Plymouth with whom it is still current.
ZK-KCD was commenced by KC (Bob) Divehall at Palmerston North in the 1970's. He was a topdressing pilot for James Aviation and was tragically killed in the crash of FU 24-950M ZK-BPZ at Whitemans Valley near Wellington on 8/12/82. After many years it was completed by his son Barry Divehall of Tauranga and was first registered on 28/8/90. It has the dual c/n's of both Bob and Barry Divehall being AACA/263/AACA/1086. It is photo'd above at Tauranga in 1998.
ZK-KJP (c/n AACA/245) was built by Ken J Price of Matamata and was first registered to him on 6/3/86. It is photo'd above very early on in its life at the 1986 AACA flyin at Matamata.
It was sold to GA and CA Keir Ltd of Charlton near Gore on 1/11/99 and it is photo'd above in a hangar at Gore on 11/10/00 by Blue Bus. Its registration was revoked on 11/4/06 but it was re-registered again on 22/6/06 to the Southern Districts Aero Club of Gore. Finally it was sold on 15/4/08 to TR Leighton of Motueka, with whom it is still current.
And finally for this post ZK-KSD (c/n AACA/430) was built by Gary Williams of Otorohanga and was first registered on 12/10/04, which makes it our most recently completed D 11. The registration KSD stands for the names of family members. It is still owned by GR and TR Williams of Otorohanga. It is photo'd above at the Auckland Chapter SAANZ flyin at Kelly Field on 21/4/12.
