Okiwi - Great Barrier Island. Upgrade.

Phillip Kyle, owner of the Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee Cruiser ZK-DIW, has sent in some photographs of progress to date on the Great Barrier Island Okiwi Station Airstrip upgrade.

Okiwi Station Airfield (NZOX) on Great Barrier Island is undergoing conversion from a grass runway to a sealed runway. Progress noted today (22-12-2013) was that all the topsoil has been removed from where the “new” runway will be, and part of the runway has had “metal” foundations laid. When completed, both Great Barrier airfields will be “all weather”.

 Thanks Phillip.
