The new ZK-AJB2 joined our register late yesterday. Allan J Bowman of Rangiora has been granted the OK to use his initials AJB on his Rans S-6ES Coyote 11 (c/n 08081901). It is seen in the pic below in the Woodley Aircraft Services hangar today, about to have its wings removed for covering.
The original ZK-AJB was issued in April 1946 to the De Havilland DH82A Tiger Moth c/n 83531 which had started like with the RAF as T5780 followed by service with the RNZAF as NZ678 from late 1940.
In its NZ civilian life is served firstly as a coupe with the Wanganui Aero Club and then to Air Contracts Ltd at Masterton, followed by time with Aerial Agriculture Ltd of Hastings. It was withdrawn from use on 13-10-1959 and scrapped at Hastings.
The photograph below of the original ZK-AJB come from the Ed Coates collection.
