Alpi Aviation Pioneer 300s of New Zealand (2)

Like the Alpi 200s, Alpi 300s also came thick and fast in the early 2000s.  This batch were all registered in 2003 and 2004.  You can identify the Rotax powered aircraft by the oval air intake just below the propeller.

ZK-PLG (c/n Alpi 67) was first registered to Christopher R Holmes of Pukeatua on 24/9/02 and it is still owned by him. It suffered power loss on approach to Pukeatua on and hit a fence, but it was repaired.  It is photo'd above at the 2004 SAANZ flyin at Tauranga.

ZK-CJN3 (c/n NZ 91) was first registered on 25/8/03 to The Grange Farm Trust of Eketahuna (Colin J Nagel).  It is photo'd above at the 2004 SAANZ flyin at Tauranga.  On 24/12 03 it was damaged when an undercarriage leg collapsed but it was repaired.

It was re-registered as ZK-CJO2 on 24/1/08 and it was sold to Anthony J Whitehead of Pauanui Beach on 23/4/09 with whom it is still current .The above photo was taken at Ardmore on 20/10/09.

ZK-RKW2 (c/n 36) is actually our oldest Alpi 300.  It was first registered in Florida as N121AA on 4/4/01.  Its US registration was cancelled on 21/1/04 and it was registered to Rudi K Wenk of Petone on 4/3/04.  It is photo'd above at a flyin at Raglan on 12/3/05 with the remains of an around New Zealand air race number on its tail.  On 11/5/05 it was sold to Pioneer Aviators of Kerikeri.

On 16/5/05 it was re-registered as ZK-RMV, still with Pioneer Aviators of Kerikeri, and the above photo is under their ownership at the 2006 Black Sands flyin at Raglan on 4/11/06.  Most recently it was sold to the RMV Syndicate of Rotorua, on 21/2/13 with whom it is still current.

ZK-CJW5 (c/n NZ111) was one of the succession of Colin (J) Wade's aircraft and it was registered to him at Hamilton on 13/8/04.  The above photo was taken at a flyin at Te Kowhai on 12/3/05 (where many Alpis were present).

On 9/12/08 the aircraft was re-registered as ZK-LPS2, and on 5/1/09 ownership transferred to Ross P Stratford of Brightwater, near Nelson.  (Ross Stratford had previously owned an Alpi 200 ZK-LPS which was re-registered ZK-LPB to make way for Ross's new aircraft).  Ross told me that the aircraft is currently being re-powered with a CAMit engine.

ZK-PLH (c/n 94) was originally registered on the Italian microlight register as I-6164 before being exported to New Zealand.  It was first registered here to Jason R Guscott and Chris R Holmes of te Awamutu on 14/12/04.  Ownership transferred to Sefton Crandall of t-Te Awamutu on 27/2/06 and then to David E Hughes of te Anau on 29/10/10.  It is photo'd above at Rangiora on 26/8/11.

Most recently it was purchased on 9/6/16 by the Philip Milne Alpi 300 Syndicate of Paraparaumu, and on 4/7/16 it was re-registered as ZK-PJM2.  It is photo'd above at Kaikoura on its delivery flight from Logan McLean's facility to Paraparaumu, on 6/7/16. Thanks to Philip Milne for the nice photo.

ZK-TNB2 (c/n 74) was previously registered as I-6645 on the Italian microlight register.  It was exported to New Zealand  and was first registered here to Lynette W Barrett of Hamilton on 14/12/04.  It is photo'd above at te Kowhai on 12/3/05.  I understand that it has recently move to Pauanui wher it is still current with its original owner.
