Cessna 172S ZK-JMG (c/n 172S8825) is the latest acquisition (again) for the Wakatipu Aero Club - being listed to them on 20-04-2014. It was first registered to Flightline Aviation Ltd on 29-11-2007 before transfer to CTC Aviation Training (NZ) Ltd at Hamilton on 13-06-2008. It did its first stint at Queenstown with the Wakatipu Aero Club (Inc) from 22-02-2011 through to 30-06-2012 when it was returned to CTC Aviation.
ZK-DAZ (c/n 59907) is a somewhat older specimen : a Cessna 172L. It was shipped to NZ aboard the Tweedbank reaching Auckland on 24-10-1971 and being registered to Rex Aviation (NZ) Ltd on 01-11-1971 and had its first flight in NZ on the 5th. The Auckland Aero Club had it on line until selling her on 31-01-1974 to private owners. About 1978 it was uprated with a 180hp engine and a CSU. It went way down south to W K Allen at Tuatapere from late February 1979 with a move over to A D and G D Munro at Winton from 23-08-1988. The DAZ Partnership of Queenstown picked it up on 09-05-2012.
ZK-DNS (c/n 62269) is a Cessna 172M Skyhawk. Listed with Rex Aviation on 14-11-1973, first flying here on 22-01-1974, and then listed to the Tauranga Aero Club from 01-02-1974. It went to Airwork (NZ) Ltd mid December 1980 before being moved on to Rotorua for Stewart Logging Ltd. The DNS Syndicate of Levin operated it from 03-05-1991 until it went to DNS Leasing Ltd at Dunedin on 14-08-2007, with whom it was noted being used as a glider towplane at Omarama during the Youth Glide Camps.
It moved to Air Fiordland Ltd of Te Anau on 01-12-2009 and then to Glenorchy Air Services And Tourist Co Ltd on 02-08-2010. It still retains its tow hook.
A trap for the unwary spotter is this Cessna ZK-MJP. It is actually a tail wheeled conversion of a Cessna 182D and has the c/n 53552.
Here is an earlier posting on this aircraft:-
