Question time # 75

What is the purpose of this object.

And as usual : the aircraft type that it is mounted on, and its NZ civil registration would be of considerable interest.

  1. No idea really, but can I guess a Magnetic Anomoly Detector on an XL750 or a Twinstar?

  3. Surely it is the relative humidity and dew point probe on the Met Services aircraft used on the atmospheric research project into water particle sizes in lenticular clouds way back in the mid 1980's
I think the aircraft was based at Masterton.
Type and registration not known by me,

  5. It looks not unlike the injector used for squirting oil into the hot exhaust gasses to make the smoke during aerobatics on a jet aircraft.

  6. Looks like my chocolate fish is reasonably safe for the moment.

Its not a MAD stinger - nor a weather tool. Not on a XL750 nor a Twinstar. It aint a pitot and not related in any way to the file name. It does not rotate: It is not designed to protect the rear fuselage.
