Have you spotted this aircraft in your travels around NZ ?
It is N701D - a Bucker Bu-133 Jungmeister with the c/n DRP-1.
It was certified to Francis E Holsclaw of Santa Barbara, California on 18-11-1998.
The above photo was taken at Taieri on 06-03-2002.
I suspect it was an import for a well known NZ aviation enthusiast who has several aircraft in his collection.
Its US registration was cancelled on 07-08-2013.

As a useless aside.
An earlier allocation of the N701D marks were used on the modified De Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk as used in the movie "The Great Waldo Pepper".
this is not a Bu Jungmeister.
ReplyDeleteIt is the Kaminskas Jungster an 80% version of the Jungmeister
Thanks for that Unknown.
ReplyDeleteI could see it was smaller than the real thing but had to go with what the FAA called it.
Cheers.
