A Fabulous day at NZRT

A really lovely day forced me to motor out to Rangiora to check out the action.

Below is the Maule M-5-210C ZK-FNG , c/n 6033C , of John Rutherford, down from Waiau, In at Pat Scotter's Rangiora Aircraft Engineering hangar, suffering from a very lumpy engine. Below is the Phoenix Luton LA-4A Minor ZK-CLL , c/n PAL/1153 , with Mike Flemming pounding the circuit courtesy of its Lycoming 145. This engine can be traced back to 1939 when it was used in the Taylorcraft Plus G-AFVU followed by the Taylorcraft Model C, G-AFVB. Next was the Chilton G-AFGH and ZK-FSU from March of 1990 until August of 95. Knocking off some more of its test flying time was the Sky Ranger Swift (hence the SRS) of its ZK-SRS registration for Wayne Wilson. This has the Aerovee 80hp engne.
Popping in for fuel and a chat was the Piper PA18 Cub ZK-BKX from Springfield.
Also in for fuel, a cuppa, and to purchase some bits from the onfield store of Aircraft Logistics Support Ltd was the Alpi ZK-WER of Hamish Lewis from the Alford Forest area
Les Eade flew down from Cheviot in his Evans VP-1 ZK-VPI , c/n AACA/277 , mighty 1834cc VW powered.
He is currently building another aircraft - Rans S6 tail dragger I think. Over from Greymouth for maintenance at Garden City Helicopters in Christchurch was the EMT Aerospatiale AS350BA ZK-HGH2 , c/n 1443. It popped into Rangiora to check out a rogue beacon that was sounding off.
Using up some carbon credits was the Bevan Kendall Thruster ZK-FJF , c/n MAANZ/268.
