The Gilmore Special - Answer to Question Time # 185

Anonymous has correctly identified the aircraft in QT # 185 as the NuWaco T-10 ZK-WTW (for Waco Taperwing).  The "helmeted flyer with wings" polished metal motif is only one example of the wonderful detailing on the aircraft, as done by Marty Cantlon (the motif does not appear on photos of the aircraft as N275TW in America).  You can see the logo just behind the engine cowling.  Click twice to enlarge the photo to see it better.

Marty Cantlon has detailed ZK-WTW as the Gilmore Special, of the Gilmore Oil Company of California in the 1930s.

And the engine is a Jacobs R755B seven cylinder radial producing 275 HP.

A lovely aircraft.
