Wanaka # 2

Ah De Havilland
Two sets of Gipsy Queen's at work.
Above the De Havilland DH89B Dominie ZK-AKY (c/n 6653) as owned by the Croydon Aviation Heritage Trust and operates on the Croydon Aircraft Company Ltd's ASC.
Below is the Mit Brereton De Havilland DH104 Devon C-1 ZK-ZKF (c/n 04312) in its RNZAF markings of NZ1805.
You may be pleased to know that this cost the NZ tax payers all of 27,525 pounds  back in 1952.
 'The dinkum oil"
North American P51D-20NT Mustang IV ZK-SAS (c/n 111-36299) of  Mustang Flights Wanaka Ltd gets some attention.
This spent a short time with the RAAF before going into storage in May of 1946 and then as a hulk on a farm near Benalla in Victoria. It then was shipped to the USA for restoration and went on the US register before eventually being registered to Jet Flights Ltd of Wanaka on 05-11-2004.
Below we have the unregistered Caravan on short steep finals.

  1. Should Caravans be registered like Parachutes?

  3. Great WOW 2018 and good on you Adam for showing the flag in a very historic Dominie. In actual fact the Dominie is owned by the Croydon Aviation Heritage Trust but operates on the Croydon Aviation ASC. As a former Trustee I was involved with its purchase and flew her for several years all around NZ Airshows and elsewhere. A delightful old lady.
