Nine intrepid aviators in seven microlight aircraft, mostly from Rangiora, have been doing a North Island safari over the last few days. Yesterday they flew from Whangarei to Kerikeri, then around Cape Reinga and after landing on Ninety Mile Beach they proceeded on to Dargaville in the late afternoon for an overnight stop.
I was very fortunate to have chosen Tuesday as a flying day at Dargaville and I found out about their planned arrival so waited to photograph their landings (in the following order):
Two of the flock of Karatoos tied down for the night. Our entire flock of three Karatoos flew on the safari.
We gave them a ride to their motel and all the guys reckoned it had been a great day.
