With the completion of yet another new hangar at Rangiora airfield we have at least five newly resident aircraft. Two of these presented themselves today.
The Rans S-7S Courier , c/n 0708513 , was built at Taieri on the Craig Miller production line and first registered as
ZK-JLS2 on 15-05-2009 to Brent Esler.
The registration letters JLS come from Jonathon Livingston Seagull, the novella by Richard Bach, about a seagull learning to fly. It is powered by a 100 Rotax 912.

Also on site today was the Alpi Pioneer 200
ZK-PKT2 , c/n SN97 . This was first listed to P K & K A Thompson Family Trust of Ranui on 31-03-2006. The registration reflecting the owners initials. It went to Avex Holding Trust c/- Rex Swensson of Makarau, Kaukapakapa from 19-11-2008 and still retains markings to this effect. It was traded back to the NZ agents (Logan McLean) Alpi Aviation NZ Ltd on 20-11-2009 for the Alpi 300 ZK-LPX. Logan has shifted his operation to an airstrip just to the west of Rangiora and has parked PKT in Ross Marfell's hangar until his own hangar is completed.
