That's because it was just the other day! Blue Bus's interesting post of the historical Mount Cook area leads me nicely into my recent photos of the same area, taken on 10 September 2019.
We had booked well ahead for a skiplane flight up to the head of the Tasman Glacier and a return helicopter flight. You take your chances with the weather but the day dawned with not a cloud in the sky and not a breath of wind! And it stayed that way all day - it was absolutely fabulous!
Our magic carpet Pilatus Turbo Porter ZK-MCT awaits. That is Mount Cook just above the port wing.
The lake at the foot of the Tasman Glacier with floating icebergs (and Mount Cook again at top right!)

Mount Cook again, to the right of the prop.
Looking up the Tasman Glacier.
The return flight by helicopter offered different views.
Like looking up through the windows in the roof.
This view covers the same area as Blue Bus's photo (directly ahead).
Back to the current day Mount Cook Airport.
And our helicopter after disembarking - Inflite's Squirrel ZK-HBR2.
What a great day!
