Neville Swan has sent in a couple of photos of his Alisport Silent Club very light sailplane, taken at Whenuapai. Some readers may remember the Neville also owned the Todhunter Blue Wren very light sailplane ZK-JGQ which we have featured on this blog.
The Alisport Silent range of sailplanes is manufactured in Italy by Alisport Srl of Cremella (near Milan), they come under the FAI's DU Class of ultralight sailplanes. The Club model has a wingspan of 12 metres which is extended a bit by the winglets. Its empty weight is 125 Kg (276 pounds) and MAUW is 290 Kgs (639 pounds). Its maximum glide ratio is 1:31 at 85 km/hr. It can be a pure glider or self launching with either a 2 stroke motor or an electric motor.
ZK-SWN (c/n 09) was imported by Neville Swan and was first registered to him on 24/8/11. It had a previous registration of 83 VF which I think is French.
You can see in this photo that ZK-SWN is a self launching sailplane. It has a 2 stroke motor with a single bladed propeller with a counterweight.
Thanks for the photos Neville. ZK-SWN is currently for sale on Trade Me.

Where is ZK-SWN now? I almost bought it a few years a go before the COVID-19 pandemic.
