Allan Bowman went out to his local Ashburton Airfield for their annual Christmas function.
Alas the approaching southerly kept those from the south from arriving.
Above the Rangiora bunch made it down and here some of them are parked in front of one of the Museum hangars. Nearest is the Matt Dowdall Aeroprakt A-22 ZK-MYD2 (c/n 079). The blue ICP Savannah is Mike Glen's ZK-MHG (c/n 09-02-51-809), with Stew Bufton's Zenair CH701 STOL ZK-LSB (c/n 6089). The Cessna 172K is ZK-CSU (c/n 17258915) as listed with Thom Corbett.
The Harrier is a ground borne museum local.
Meanwhile at Rangitata Island another fly in.
Looks like the weather has already closed in a little.
Below are some of the aircraft that made it.
Nearest is the locally based Rans S-6ESCoyote II ZK-RHZ (c/n 08031519); Then the Cessna 172K ZK-CSU , the Les Vincent AutoGyro Europe Calidus Fern ZK-OTM (c/n NZC001) and Jack Mehlhopt Rans S-12 Airaile ZK-RED (c/n 0692240) with the South Canterbury Microlight Clubs B22 Bantam ZK-SMC (c/n 0129) nesting out in the long grass.
Also at NZRI was the much travelled Vans RV3 ZK-WHO (c/n AACA/612) with owner Gerry Chisum loading up to depart back north.
