Postcard from Pauanui

The popular beachside location of Pauanui (NZUN) on the eastern coast of the Coromandel Peninsula receives a population explosion over the festive season and those with holiday homes escape their normal routines.  The property development has at its central point a grass airstrip 782m long by 54m wide and is bordered by a number of dwellings featuring their own hangar space.  In addition to the resident aircraft at Pauanui, the airstrip's proximity to the beach, a golf course and small shopping complex with coffee shop etc makes it a very attractive drop-in spot for visiting aircraft.
 
A brief visit on 29 December saw the following photographed:
Cirrus SR20 ZK-CJW has just celebrated 4 years on the NZ register.  It was registered on 23/12/08 and arrived at Auckland from Norfolk Island on 10/02/09 before flying onto Te Kowhai and Wellington. 

EC130 B4 ZK-HKX is one of several of the type operated by Pikes Point based Advanced Flight.

Tecnam P92 Super Echo ZK-PFL

Yak 52 ZK-XXS is the latest example to reach our shores and was registered to Kaipara Aviation of Ardmore in September 2012.
