Aero L-29 Delphin updates at Timaru.

The find for the day !
In a factory at Washdyke (Timaru) is the forward fuselage of Aero L-29 ZK-SSS2 (c/n 395100).
The rumour is that it is being converted into a simulator. This aircraft was damaged at North Shore Airfield on 01-02-2009 when it over ran runway "21" and through the fence. Its registration was cancelled on 01-09-2010.

Out at the Timaru Airport was the Aero L29 ZK-VAU (c/n 94015). This aircraft is active.
I noted for the first time some old civil markings on the rear fuselage. These appear to be "UK-BOB".
This is news to me: "UK" being the prefix for Uzbekistan.

  1. Possibly "OK-"? I forget the applicable nation.

  2. Now confirmed as ex UR-BOB (UR = Ukraine).
