Progress on the Latest Mosquito at Avspecs 2-11-2023

The latest (fourth) Mosquito restoration at Avspecs is now on its undercarriage and has been moved to the front of the hangar.  I understand the plan is to have it painted by Christmas.  This is the ex Glynn Powell aircraft ex NZ2308 and it is heading to an American owner.

There was a lot of work going on so I didn't venture inside but I did take this photo through the hangar doors, and you can just make out the shiny new undercarriage.  Both RR Merlin engines are installed.

I reckon the Mosquito undercarriage outside is one from the John Smith collection of parts that were sent by container to Avspecs.  There were also major components of another Mosquito in John Smith's collection, being the deteriorated fuselage of TE881/NZ2345.  This has formed the basis of the NEXT! Avspecs Mosquito with the woodwork being well advanced.

  1. So that means after NZ2308 comes the one destined for the UK (at last).
I thought that the buyer was furnishing the id of that aircraft separate from the other in the John Smith Collection ?
That leaves DZ542 - the bomber variant yet to find a new home.
