A Couple of Stationairs at Ardmore This Afternoon 2-11-2023

A drop off at Auckland Domestic this afternoon allowed a visit to Ardmore, but as I sat in interminable traffic such that it took more than an hour to get there I hoped it would be worth it.  I really wanted to see the progress on the latest Mosquito at Avspecs and that didn't disappoint.  However there were a few interesting aircraft out and about - a couple of pretty newly re-registered Cessna 206 Stationairs that I hadn't seen before:

Cessna 206H Stationair ZK-ABT2 (c/n 20608134) was re-registered as such on 1/9/23 to an Auckland owner, having previously been ZK-FWC2 since 30/7/14.  It sports a new colour scheme.  I thought that the early ZK-A registrations were being reserved for historic types.

And Cessna T206H ZK-EAT3 (c/n T20609073) was receiving some maintenance.  This one has been registered to a Waiuku owner since 26/11/19 and was re-registered from ZK-JWH which it first appeared as on 21/2/13.

  1. You are right. Normally "A**" registrations are reserved for historic aircraft. You can negotiate with CAA to reuse one if you do some checking that the aircraft is unlikely to resurface, and promise to give the registration back if the original aircraft *does* reappear.
