Massey School of Aviation took delivery of four Diamond DA40's at Ardmore's Hawker Pacific hanger today (11Jun) and Wayne Grant was on hand to snap them. Another two had arrived by container during the earlier part of the day and all 12 will be delivered by month's end while the Diamond DA42 Twin Star's are due in October. Incidentally, it is understood Hawker Pacific (the Diamond distributor for NZ) is endeavouring to have the Twin Star's flown to NZ under their own steam from Canada.............
The replacement aircraft Massey flying school are quite good looking machines.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know if the twin stars will have Thielert Diesel engines on them?
Hi QW, I don't think so. From what I understand they'll be avgas powered hence a degree of difficulty in figuring out how to ferry them. Avgas is not readily available in the islands (Aleutians or Pacific).
ReplyDeleteThe twins will be powered by the Lycoming L-360 Avgas engines. Massey is the launch customer for this configuration. Will be sweet to see the route they take to get here =)
ReplyDeleteThanks intheknow. Yes, it will be interesting to see what route they take be it via the Pacific, Aleutians or even across the Atlantic and through Middle East and Asia.
