Identity unknown,

I have two photographs from Allan Bowman showing Cessna 180s in spray gear on a farm in the shadow of Mount Hutt.
I am guessing we are talking about 1962.
Anybody nail the identity of them ?

And turned around to make it easier !

  1. The tanker is Rural's if that helps....

  2. Yep.
And it looks like a Rural Aviation logo on the door of the red white and blue speciman.
Surely there would not have been many 180's with dayglo tails !

  3. The lower picture is the wrong way round. The background 180 is XXX-XX.
The 1957 schemed 180's should show the rego under the wing and the wing mirror is on the wrong side.

  4. Good spotting Anonymous.
I have turned it around for you.

  5. The lower photo, I suspect, was taken after mid 1964. The car number plate looks to be of the early permanent style issued at that time. It doesn't look like a yellow and black one in use between 1961 and 1964. What year and model is the car.

  6. The car is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air 4 Door Sedan.

I think the white aircraft is ZK-BVD, though it might be ZK-BUG.

  7. Dayglo Cessna is most likely ZK-BUY,the white one ZK-BUG and the silver/blue one is ZK-BUJ.

  8. Excellent.
So this will date the daglo C180 photo as pre mid December of 1961.
