Tiger Moth ZK-ATM/2 at Kaipara Flats Today 7-3-2022

Late this morning Alan Coubray flew the "new" Tiger Moth ZK-ATM2 across from Whitianga to Kaipara Flats to meet up with its other part owner Martin Farrand.  I was very fortunate to be out at the airfield helping with a bit of runway maintenance work when Martin arrived ahead of the Tiger, so I could be ready to photograph its arrival:

Downwind right for Runway 07.

Being an ex American Tiger Moth fitted with a tailwheel, the undercarriage is lower and has a different geometry.  Those wheels look very different to the standard Tiger Moth undercarriage that I am used to.

A very smooth landing.

And taxying to Martin's hangar.  There are now 3 Tiger Moths at Kaipara Flats

  1. Where will it be permanently based? You say "Alan Coubray flew the "new" Tiger Moth ZK-ATM2 across from Whitianga to Kaipara Flats to meet up with its other part owner Martin Farrand" which could mean it was only visiting or, there to stay. You add "There are now 3 Tiger Moths at Kaipara Flats. Will it be there permanently or shared between those two locations?

  2. I think it will be based at both Kaipara Flats and Whitianga for periods of time.
