Zenith/Zenair CH 701s of New Zealand (3) - 2006 to 2010 Aircraft

ZK-STL (c/n 7-9777) was a CZAW built example that was imported by Anton Meier of Aerosport Aviation.  It was first registered on 12/1/06 and originally appeared on amphibious floats as in the above photo taken at the 2006 SAANZ flyin at Tauranga.  Its first owner was Anton Meier and it went to International Investments Ltd of Howickon 23/8/06 then to RJ Gray of Bombay on 20/4/07.

Most recently it went to Greg Van Der Hulst of Whangarei, on 13/1/12.  It has been returned to a wheeled undercarriage as can be seen in this photo from Jean310, showing it outside its hangar at its base of Dargaville on 15/1/15.

ZK-JLN2  (c/n 7-2026) was buuilt by John Lowther of Timaru and was first registered to him on 29/3/06.  It is photo'd above at Timaru on 29/12/07.

It was purchased by S & N Khan of Motueka on 7/8/10 and is photo'd above in their ownership at the 2011 RAANZ flyin at Masterton, on 12/3/11.

The Khan's re-registered the aircraft as ZK-KHA2 on 12/1/12 as photo'd above at the 2012 Black Sands flyin at Raglan.  Finally on 2/9/13 ZK-KHA2 was sold to WH Lawton of Upper Moutere.

ZK-ESY2 (c/n 7-9844) is another CZAW built aircraft imported by Aerosport Aviation.  It was first registered to David Clews of Hamilton on 6/7/06.  Ownership transferred to E nikolau of Hamilton on 12/7/07 and finally on 10/6/08 to Adrian Van Der Hulst of Te Awamutu (father of fellow CH 701 owner Greg Van Der Hulst).  It is photo'd above at the 2009 Black Sands flyin/

And here is Adrian Van Der Hulst approaching the airstrip at Kowhai with a back country backdrop during a flyout from the 2014 SAANZ flyin at Hastings.

ZK-JRM (c/n 5989) is a VW powered CH 701 that was built by JE (Rae) McNally of Kerikeri and was first registered to him on 7/12/06. It first flew on 29/12/06 and it is photo'd above at Kerikeri on 22/12/09.  Ownership transferred to Ngapita Trust of Pokeno on 15/5/12 and one month later to MR Durham of Hastings, on 18/6/12.

ZK-LSB (c/n 6089) was built by LS (Stu) Bufton of Rangiora and was first registered to him on 18/5/07.  It is powered by a Rotax 912 and is modified to have extra flap extension, and also has additional fuel tanks fitted.  It also has extended fuselage storage for rifles and fishing rods and additional storage and in wing lockers.  It is photo'd above at the 2009 SAANZ flyin at Ashburton.

Stu uses ZK-LSB for back country flying and for landing in riverbeds so he has fitted it with humungous wheels as in this photo taken at Rangiora on 10/10/14.  Stu has also been involved in importing several other CH 701s from the US.

ZK-OSO (c/n 7-9708) was first registered in the US as N701TL in May 2005 and it appears to be a CZAW built example.  It was imported into New Zealand by John Levy of Kaikoura and was first registered here on 28/1/08.  The above photo was taken on 13/3/09, at Motueka I think.  Ownership transferred to D Fenwick of Richmond on 1/6/08 and to SA Sutherland of Paihia on 3/11/09.

ZK-SCC (c/n 6592) was built by Steve Cunningham of Opotiki.  It was first registered to him on 9/12/08 and first flew on 300/5/09.  It is powered by a Subaru EA 81 engine and has a 3 bladed Warp Drive propellor.  ownership transferred to R Dawson of Matamata on 10/7/09 and then to RC Cawthorne of Silverdale on 28/5/11.  It is photo'd above at North Shore on 14/6/14.

ZK-EDY (c/n 7-3988) was built by Gary Eady and registered to Gary L Eady and Claire Eady of Whangarei on 6/1/10. I think both of the photos come from Gary Eady, and the above photo was taken on 15/1/10.  It is powered by a Jabiru 3300 6 cylinder engine and has Canadian Pegastrol wings with automatically retracting slats.

ZK-EDY is photo'd above at Whangarei airport on 25/7/10, now fully painted.  Unfortunately it ditched in the Whananaki North tidal estuary on 28/12/14.  However it is still registered so it hopefully is being repaired.
