Busy on Mt Tarawera tourist flights at Lake Rotorua today was the latest addition to the Volcanic Air Safaris fleet, AS350B2 ZK-ILF. This is a 2008 model imported from the US and it was prepared for NZ service by Rotorcraft at Hamilton.
Down at Taupo Airport was Bell 206L-1 ZK-HUG3 which is a 1980 model imported from Australia for Gisborne leasing company, NR Aviation. It was assembled by Argus Aviation at Taupo.
Also at Taupo Airport were a couple of aircraft not often seen around being Cirrus SR22 ZK-WIJ which was imported from the US in 2008, and is registered to an Otaki owner.
And Auckland based Robin R2160 ZK-TZD which was registered back in 2001.
I believe the Robin is now permanently based at Taupo
