A Gathering of Gliders at Kaikohe

To help Peter Layne out, here are a selection of gliders from Kaikohe.  Peter Garlick took the photo on the occasion of his visit to renew their annual Certificates of Airworthiness.

We have Grob G 103 Twin Astir ZK-GTA of the Kaikohe Gliding Club with the club's Schemp-Hirth Janus CM ZK-GVQ and Schemp-Hirth Discus b ZK-GTZ in behind.  The V tailed glider is the Start und Flug H101 Salto ZK-GIZ also belonging to the club and behind that is Maurice Honey's PZL-Swidnik PW5 Smyk ZK-GWW4.  There is one other glider at the rear but I cannot identify it.

Thanks very much for the photo Peter.

  1. Thanks Sir Minty.
    For me, the particularly interesting one there is Maurice Honey's GWW4. I am after that glider however I have his PW5 as GWW3 as follows: GWW1 DG-400 c/n 4-104, GWW2 PW-5 c/n 17.03.012 and GWW3 PW5 c/n 17.05.015.
What is the other GWW? You may be aware that these particular PW-5s were involved in a convoluted swap of PW-5 registrations some years ago. Somewhere I have the details of what occurred. GTA started life as GMD with the Auckland Gliding Club and I flew it registered as such.
