Following on from our flights at Mt Cook we overnighted at Wanaka and then on to Queenstown with a quick stop at Wanaka Airport, where I was pleased to meet up with Steve Bunting who was knowledgeable about all aircraft stuff on the airport. Thanks Steve.
There were a couple of Cherokee 140s that caught my eye, in smart matching schemes. They are both owned by Classic Flights Ltd.

ZK-DEB
and ZK-DEJ.
Steve also told me that several aircraft have just arrived in Wanaka for the Toy Museum, including a Mig 15, a Vampire, a Piaggio P 166 and a Westland Whirlwind helicopter. In fact I understand that 10 aircraft have arrived from the previous collection of the Australian Aircraft Museum from Bankstown in Sydney.
And also, another Beech Staggerwing has recently arrived at Wanaka from Australia for restoration to flying status.
