Visitors from Masterton

Late afternoon arrivals at Pauanui yesterday were a couple of visitors from Masterton who stayed overnight and departed today en route Whakatane.    These were the 1973 model Cessna 172M ZK-DKD

And the 1974 model Maule M5-210C ZK-DVF

A Jolly of Jodels at Paraparaumu 4-8-2020

The population of Jodel D 11s at Paraparaumu has recently increased to 3 aircraft with the recent arrival of ZK-KSD to join ZK-DYB and ZK-ECU.

Tim Gorman was invited along to photograph the three of them together.  Maybe I am biased but I reckon these older types of homebuilt aircraft have character as they are all the same but different.  Surprisingly to me, we still have 29 Jodel D 11s registered plus one D 112, but I don't think that many of them are active.

Thanks for the use of the photo Tim.

Pauanui

A couple of stunning days on the Coromandel has brought a regular flow of interesting visitors to Pauanui airfield, including from North Shore the Robin DR400/500 ZK-VAX which was imported from the UK in 2005, and was initially ZK-LIS.

From Parakai came the all white Aeroprakt A32 ZK-VXN, registered here in 2018

And from Tauranga the 2005 Tecnam P2002 Sierra ZK-WBF.

Pacific Aerospace E 350 Adventurer Update

Back in December I posted about the first flight of the new Pacific Aerospace FBA-2CB Adventurer ZK-EXP2.  The link is HERE

Well things have moved on at Pacific Aerospace and Covid 19 got in the way, but the aircraft has been painted and flown, as in these photos from Pacific Aerospace's Facebook site:

ZK-EXP2 is branded as a E 350 Adventurer by Pacific Aerospace.

And in late July it was painted with its new American registration N59BC for shipment to Pacific Aerospace's North American agent, North West Back Country Aircraft of Boise Idaho.

A Couple More from NZAR 28-7-2020

As I was leaving Ardmore last Tuesday I saw that the old original (?) hangar on Harvard Lane was open so I popped in.  There are a lot of interesting aircraft in there, and here are a couple of them:

I managed a better photo of Cessna T337G Turbo Super Skymaster (c/n P3370029) ZK-FZA (I last posted it in 2014).  It is still registered to an Auckland owner.  Does anyone know if has flown in the intervening years?

And tucked away at the side of the hangar was the Zlin Trener Master VH-ZLN (c/n 1091) which was ex ZK-CJY before being exported to Australia in 1992.  We have previously reported that it is now back in New Zealand and it will presumably return to the sky here sometime in the future.

Barrier Air

Barrier Air recently had their first Cessna 208B Grand Caravan ZK-SDB repainted in a white scheme at Napier and it was seen on line at Auckland Airport today.   It is currently advertised for sale with Premi Air.

ZK-HGG back in 1974

Cast your mind back to 4th October 1973 when Dalhoff and King (NZ) Ltd of Wellington registered the Hughes 369HS ZK-HGG c/n 530480S.
This was the third 369 listed in NZ.
It was registered to Southwest Helicopters Ltd of Taupo on 26 March 1974.
Southwest also operated from bases in the South Island, and here we see ZK-HGG outside its hangar at Manakaiaua - due west from Mount Cook in the Bruce Bay region.
Pilot at the time was  Graham Fox.

It was damaged near Karamea on 23 September 1975, landed in a river bed  - only to be washed away during the night when the river rose.

Saturday, 1 August 2020

At Timaru today - Saturday 1st August.

Phillip Kyle captured these two at Timaru today.
Air New Zealand's Bombardier DHC-8-311 ZK-NEB (c/n 615) has completed its Saturday run and awaits its Sunday afternoon departure.
Still wearing Air Discovery titles and still currently registered to Southern Wings Ltd is the Piper PA-34-200T Seneca II ZK-FNB (c/n 34-7970236) But not going anywhere very soon.

Whenuapai Today

Thorpe ZK-EDF returned to Whenuapai today. Previously based there with Kevin Foster, it moved south a few years ago when Kevin relocated to Motueka.
The Thorpe has now been sold to a North Shore syndicate, and was active at Whenuapai today with Colin Grounsell conducting type ratings for the syndicate members.

Meanwhile the remains of the dismantled PA44-180 Seminole ZK-MBV rests in the hangar awaiting shipment off to Australia.

Cessna 152 ZK-MDS at Tauranga Today 1--8-2020

Warwick Hamilton captured the Cessna 152 ZK-MDS climbing out from Tauranga today:

It has been listed to Aerohire Ltd of Whakatane since 7/12/11.  It has not been posted on the blog since 2009 and it now wears a new scheme from then.  Thanks for the photo Warwick.
