Bruce Cooke is pretty active about his aerial activities on Facebook, and just before Christmas he posted that he was going to repaint his Jodel D 18 ZK-JAC:
And here it is, photo'd today at Matamata. Bruce writes: It is not a “Wannabe Fighter”, it's a proper tribute scheme to recognise the many civilian aircraft impressed into RNZAF service in September 1939 at the start of WW2. These impressed aircraft were generally painted into this scheme, and those that didn't go into flying schools or serve as Patrol Bombers did vital service as communications aircraft or station “hacks”. Often overlooked, but critical to the local war effort, a number of the impressed aircraft, and their aircrew, were lost in service - hence the poppy on the nose.
