For 2022 it was the Central Hawkes Bay Aero Club's turn to host the 'First in the World Fly In' at Waipukurau and a stunning day attracted some 40 aircraft for lunch. Amongst these was the Feilding based Aviat Husky A-1C ZK-NWY2 which was imported from the US in 2013 and has been with its current owner since 2020.
Up from Masterton was the SeaRey amphibian ZK-ZET. This was originally imported from Australia in 2013 as ZK-WET2 moving onto ZET in 2017.
A visit to Hastings found Cessna P206E ZK-FJH with 'Whitiki Ngati Porou' markings. This was one of a number of aircraft utilised in the campaign on East Cape to increase the Covid vaccination rate of the local population. Imported from the UK in 1984 this changed hands to a 'Private owner" in November 2021.
And nearby was the 1965 Hughes 269A ZK-HLQ2 of B Line Helicopters, Wellington. This was imported from the US in 1995 and is currently for sale on Trade Me.
