Les Eade. Rest in peace.

VERNON LESLIE EADE

Sunday the 5th July as the result of a motor vehicle accident just north of his home town of Cheviot.
Ann was badly injured and helicoptered to Christchurch hospital.

An “incredible gentleman” and “eccentric genius”,

What he couldn’t build or what he couldn’t design was not worth doing.
If anything was ever broken he didn’t just fix it,
he redesigned it and rebuilt it and made it better than it ever was before.

“The community’s devastated, because if there was a problem you went around to my dad’s to get it fixed.”

                                                                            Quotes from son Dave Eade.

Les also made his own wine, beer and spirits.
All many of us know.

Les took over the Evans VP-1 ZK-VPI  (c/n AACA/277) in January 2005 and loved it to bits - swearing that he would never ever sell it - keeping it in the hangar on the Cheviot airstrip.
His vast experience with VW engines has helped many a microlight builder over the years.
His Rans S-6ES Coyote II Tail Dragger ZK-LVE (c/n 05051662ES) project was started in 2009 and registered on 21-11-2011.

A touch of his humour.
Les would arrive at an event in either the VP-1 or the Rans with Ann arriving with the Land Cruiser and the Oxford caravan.

Less will be sadly missed - a great loss to the aviation fraternity.
