A Pennyburger run to Whangarei today 6-08-2023

This morning dawned bright and clear at Warkworth after the fog had burned off, so I thought it would be a good day to sample a Pennyburger for lunch at the Whangarei Flying Club.  I had Honey Bebe ready to go so off North I flew:

Flying past Langs Beach and on up Bream Bay.

It was the first time I had seen the Whangarei Flying Club's new Savannah ZK-JUN which looked good.  The eagle eyed reader may be able to see that it has been altered to twin stick control which is better for training.

A line up down from hangar 10 at Whangarei.  The burger was delicious, thank you Penny.  Unfortunately the weather at Whangarei wasn't so good with light rain at the airfield and heavier rain not that far North.  So I took off into the showers and made my way back South.

Past the Arai Links golf course South of Mangawai on the coast.

Nearly home with the new Warkworth to Puhoi motorway much better for those Sunday afternoon back to Auckland commuters.  (Click once or twice to enlarge the photos for a closer look).

And so to Kaipara Flats for an overhead rejoin.  You can see the airfield just above centre, and the Kaipara Harbour over the hills from 1600 feet.  A couple of very pleasant flights.
