Warbirds Over Wanaka 2026 (1) - C172N ZK-EJR in Esteemed Company!

With the successful conclusion of Warbirds Over Wanaka 2026 (albeit without a military presence), various photographers are posting their photos and I thought it would be a good idea to chronicle some of them.  This first photo from Richard Webb is probably unique:

Richard is the owner of long-time Kaipara Flats resident Cessna 172N ZK-EJR which he has refurbished back to near original condition.  He also spends quite a bit of time at Wanaka and I guess this is in his regular hangar hence the presence of his aircraft in esteemed company.

The Aircraft Restoration Company's Spitfire Mk XI PL983 (G-PRXI) is a very rare bird with only two of this mark flying today.  It is the unarmed high altitude photo reconnaissance version of the Spitfire, it was built in 1944 and has an interesting history that you can read HERE.  It was specially imported from Duxford in the UK to Wanaka for the 2026 airshow.

Thanks very much for the photo Richard.
