Meteor S.p.A. Sky Arrow 450T ZK-SKA cancelled.

A couple of quick copies of shots of the Meteor S.p.A. Sky Arrow 450T ZK-SKA c/n 011.
Top shot at Ashburton on 02-02-01 and lower view also at Ashburton but on 07-02-1997.

Saddly this aircraft broke up in flight and crashed near Inungahua on 14-03-09 claiming the life of the pilot/owner.

Its registration was cancelled on 03-06-09.

This poor quality photo, lifted from the Google news item, shows the results of a landing incident at North Shore Airfield on 09-07-2009 of the Piper PA-30-160B Twin Comanche ZK-NAA3. c/n 30-1785.

A reasonably late arriver into NZ, ZK-NAA3 flew into Kerikeri from Australia as VH-ESH on 09-04-2006 for listing with the North Shore Aero Club (Inc) on 05-05-06. Built as N8643Y during 1969 it migrated to Oz in August of 1974.

Cancelled. Stoddard-Hamilton Glasair 111. ZK-EFW

This Stoddard-Hamilton Glasair 111 ZK-EFW2 c/n 3289 was a product of the efforts of Bob Irving and first appeared on the register on 16-02-2006. Power plant is a Lycoming IO-540.
During its first flight at Ardmore on 05-06-06 the nose gear collapsed and it overturned.
Following a major rework it flew again on 17-09-2007.
At Whitianga 21-06-2009 its nose wheel dug into soft ground and it overturned again.
It was cancelled from our register on 09-07-2009.

Cancelled from the register. Thorp S-18 ZK-WMT

Built by Wayne Matthews of Auckland, this Thorp S-18 ZK-WMT c/n WM101, is pictured at Ashburton on 04-02-2007 during the SAA flyin.
Noted for some long range flights WMT was being prepared for another adventure when it crashed at Whenuapai on 26-04-2008 taking the life of its owner and passenger. One of its note worthy flights was from Invercargill to Hobart on 18-05-2005.

It was cancelled from the NZ register on 08-07-2009.

Robinson R22 Beta ZK-IJD cancelled.

Robinson R22 Beta ZK-IJD c/n 1952 was cancelled on 06-07-2009 as destroyed.
It was damaged on 16-07-2007 when it failed to out climb a hill on Criffle Station during mustering.
Registered as JA7866 on 02-10-1991 it was listed a written off on 20-12-2001.
It joined the NZ register on 02-12-2004 courtesy of Wing & Rotor Aviation and transferred to Eagle Flight Training Ltd at Papakura on 20-10-2005.
On 22-06-2006 South-West Helicopters Ltd of Te Anau became the official owner/operator.

A couple of Agricola shots from way back.

Above is a less than perfect shot of what I believe to be ZK-BMN taken outside the Air Contracts hangar at Masterton in early August of 1963. This (as we know) later became ZK-BXO. Parked in front is the Cessna 180 ZK-BLL. [This is my negative No 78, taken on a Kodak Jiffy using real Kodak 620 B & W film]

Above. In December of 1963 ZK-BMJ was parked near the Wellington Aero Club hangar. Note the small side window.

On 24-01-1971 ZK-BMJ was parked at Paraparaumu alongside ZK-BXO. Note now the larger side window.

1st day of July

A dash around Ardmore late this afternoon netted three new aircraft, well, new to me!

The first was Cessna 185B ZK-CMW registered to Pokeno interests, and by the getup worn by the pilot now employed in the meat bombing role from the local strip at Mercer.

The second aircraft discovered was Piper PA38-112 ZK-JBX. I actually photographed this aircraft some months ago but it has been minus any markings, its registration just recently applied. It is lined up to head south sometime for the aero club at Palmerston North to whom it has been registered since September last year.

Thirdly was Jodel D.18 ZK-SCJ just far enough outside of its hanger and capturing the last rays of sunlight. It is registered to an Air NZ pilot and came onto the register in 2004, flying for the first time in October that year. It would appear the aircraft has been based in the Waikato region but perhaps now resides at Ardmore.
