The loss of Bantam ZK-SMC.

It is my sad duty to report the loss of the Micro Aviation B22 Bantam ZK-SMC (c/n 0129) in a fatal accident near Timaru Airport on Friday the 23th.

Two well known and respected aviation personalities were lost in this accident.

I first met Jack Mehlhopt in the mid 60's when I was chasing hours.

I guess there will be no more jovial Sunday afternoon teas in the old hangar !

Randel Tikitiki was a more recent convert to the microlight scene.

A very sad day for NZ aviation.
