The Leaning Tower of Rongotai

While in Wellington I checked out progress on the new control tower at the airport.  It is located on the corner of Tirangi Road and George Bolt Street, just off the Western side of the airport and in a carpark that serves the adjacent shops.

It surely is unique, but I wonder about its practicalities, and the circular viewing tower looks like it should be a bit further along nearer the extended centreline?

I hope the workers in the leaning building don't get bad backs from walking on a lean!

  1. I agree with you aesthetically; but structurally, it is on the centreline

  2. Its only got that lean on because of a good NZWN breeze before the concrete could set
