The weekend fly in to celebrate the Brodie Family's 100 years in aviation took place this weekend.
Conditions were somewhat challenging (according to one well known aviator) with a strong northwesterly blowing pretty much down the main vector. This wind dropped later in the afternoon.
I noted twenty one visitors - The weather around the rest of NZ prevented a large number of visitors.
As Russell has oft mentions - Rangitata Island has its own climate zone.
Alphabetically the visitors include :-
Tony den Haan flew in from Cust in his ICP Savannah S ZK-BIC2 (c/n 14-11-54-0358) with its 21 inch tires and fin extension.
The Canterbury Aero Club offered two of its fleet.
Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub ZK-BNL (c/n 18-5152) handled the conditions very well - and did several circuits to prove that it was no big deal.
Even the 'black backs' enjoyed the conditions.
The BPO Syndicates Cessna 150A ZK-BPO (c/n 17688) was down from Rangiora.
And Thomas Corbett's Cessna 172K ZK-CSU (c/n 17258915) nipped down from Ashburton.
John Ainsworth's Cessna 150H ZK-CXL (c/n 15068308) - down from Rangiora.
