Roaring Forties Aerobatics at Matamata 16-1-2016

One of the great things about Matamata is that you can photograph aircraft on the runway with nice uncluttered backgrounds, as with these photos of the NZ Warbirds Roaring Forties aerobatic team taxying for take off.

The Roaring Forties are a very experienced aerobatic team having been formed in 1979, and they have given countless displays to thrill many airshow crowds throughout New Zealand.  At Matamata they gave another great display which you can see on the NZ Warbirds Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/NZ-Warbirds-Association-Inc-150073775005366/  Just scroll down a bit.  The footage was taken from a tiny Go Pro camera that was mounted near the wingtip of NZ1065 - you can just see it in the photo below.

The team's aircraft are:

 NZ1065/ZK-ENF

 NZ1057/ZK-TVI

 NZ1078/ZK-ENG

 NZ1053/ZK-JJA

 and NZ1052/ZK-MJN

Take off.by NZ1052 then two pairs

 NZ1057 and NZ1065

 then NZ1053 and NZ1078.

The four ship formation seen low over Doug Brooker's new MXS.

And ZK-WAR arrived, obviously part way through a repaint following anti corrosion work.
