Homegrown Single Seat Homebuilt Aircraft of New Zealand (0) - Andrews A1

I have numbered this post as zero because the Andrews A1 is the original single seat homebuilt aircraft of New Zealand.  It is currently registered as an Amateur Built sport aircraft although it was originally designed in the 1950's as a replacement for the Tiger Moth topdressing aircraft.  I have previously posted on this aircraft and its history at www.nzcivair.blogspot.co.nz/2010/06/earliest-3-post-ww2-homebuilts-of-new.html

The photo is from the Keith Morris collection and was taken at the 2009 SAANZ flyin at Ashburton.

Andrews A1 ZK-BLU (c/n 1) was first registered to C G Andrews and H L McGregor of Wellington in September 1955 and it first flew on 2/10/57.  It has has a long and interesting career as a sport aircraft, and it qualifies as our first homegrown single seat homebuilt aircraft of the post WW 2 era.  It is currently owned by the Andrews Partnership of Blenhiem.
