Jodel D 11 ZK-CKG at Kerikeri 18-11-2018

I was delighted to see the Jodel D 11 ZK-CKG in a hangar at Kerikeri when I visited there on 18 November.  I have previously posted about this D 11 as part of my series on Jodel D 11s of New Zealand at https://nzcivair.blogspot.com/2012/11/jodel-d-11s-of-new-zealand-1.html

ZK-CKG is still owned by the Courtenay Flood Syndicate of Kaikohe and in fact it has spent all of its life in the far North.  It was first registered on 1/7/66 and first flew in February 1968.

I had not previously appreciated that our first single seat Jodel D 9 (ZK-CTW) was not registered (on 23/6/67) or flown (on 2/12/69), until after ZK-CKG, so that makes it the matriarch of the New Zealand Jodel family (although the imported D 112 ZK-CGL2 is in fact older).

So ZK-CKG has now been flying for more than 50 years, which is just as it should be!
