A shot from the Misc Bin. Source unknown.
This air to air shot of De Havilland DH86 ZK-AEG (c/n 2331) was one of a series taken for Union Airways on probably the inaugural service on 15-01-1935 into Taieri (Dunedin).
It was first listed as ZK-AEG in the UK on 14-08-1935 and gained its UK CofA on 08-10-1953.
It was shipped out to NZ arriving at Lyttelton on on 20-11-1935 and was registered to Union Airways of NZ Ltd on 02-12-1935 and named "Karoro".
It was impressed into the RNZAF on 13-10-1939 as NZ553 and along with its college ZK-AEF (as NZ 552) served in Fiji. Both were returned to NZ in 1943 and along with the third example ZK-AEH  (as NZ554) were morphed into a rebuild that was registered as ZK-AHW on 28-02-1945.
ZK-AHW was eventually broken up at Palmerston North in November 1946.

Additional details added from Brian Lockstone and DxP
