Omaka flying day 25-01-2015

Andy Heap knocked the rust from his camera, nipped over the hill to Omaka for the flying day, and has kindly sent in these photographs.

All a warm up for next weekends Healthy Bastards weekend.

There is nothing new for pages - but nice to see all the same.

 Above we have the North American NA88 Harvard IIA ZK-ENA (c/n 88-12036) cunningly disguised in its old NZ1037 markings. This is the Brendon Deere aircraft.

 Above - the Omaka Real Flying Clubs Nanchang CJ-6 ZK-JQS (c/n 3832020) is locally based - as is also the Boeing A75N1 Stearman ZK-KJO (c/n 75-2100) below- which is listed to the Marlborough Aero Club (Inc).

 Another aircraft down from Feilding (after the Harvard) is Peter Flintoff's Aviat A-1C-180 Husky ZK-NWY2 (c/n 3117).

 ZK-PEE is an original Piper PA-20 with the c/n of 20-962. One of 1121 built between 1950 and 1954.

 Below is the Flug Werk FW190 A8/N ZK-RFR (c/n 990001) from Murray Miers Chariots of Fire Fighter Collection. This is powered by the Shvetsov 82T engine which is a much developed version of the Wright R1820 Cyclone). This aircraft first flew in Germany on 22-07-2004 and first flew from Omaka on 20-04-2011.

 Voyenno-Vozdushnye Sily, literally "Military Air Forces" was the official designation of one of the air forces of the Soviet Union.

From this come the initials VVS which gives us the ZK-VVS registration of the Yak 3M. This is c/n 0470106 which makes it the sixth new built aircraft from Yakovlev at Orenburg. It is powered with an Allison V1710 engine.
