Another reason to travel to Hastings was to catch up with Gavin Grimmer who lives adjacent to the airfield so he can taxy his aircraft onto the field - a nice setup. He has been constructing an own-design towplane for use by the local gliding club, and it is now finished although it hasn't flown yet. It would be fair to say that he has found building the aircraft easier than getting the official paperwork completed, so it is a work in progress.
Grimmer Skylux ZK-SLX (c/n 1005-2) has a Lexus V8 conversion similar to the conversion that Gavin has in his other aircraft, which is the Maranda ZK-JGR. Gavin was tidying up a few things on the engine when I called but he kindly pushed all the gear out of the way for the above photo.
And Gavin also sent the above photo of ZK-SLX outside in the sunlight and showing a different view of the aircraft. Thanks Gavin.
