Cessna 172N c/n 17273544 was an 1980 production model first listed briefly in the US as N509SG followed by N1703C for export to Australia where it became VH-RNX to the Royal Newcastle Aero Club at Maitland, NSW on 22-10-1980.
In April of 1994 ownership moved to P Jones of Leumeah, NSW and it crossed the Tasman Sea and flew into Auckland from Norfolk Island on 20-07-1994. Its Australian registration cancelled on 19-09-1994.
The VH preffix was swapped for ZK and it became ZK-RNX on 21-09-1994 with Brian J and Patricia E Rainsford of Castor Bay, North Shore - replacing their recently sold Cessna A150M ZK-EHP.
Craig Stobbs of Masterton took it on from 20-05-2006 and below we see a pic of it in Craig's Masterton hangar on 08-02-2007.
On the left of this pic is the engine room of the Stoddard-Hamilton Glasair III which would become ZK-UAE and on the right we see the back end of the Glaser-Dirks DG400 ZK-GVA.
It was noted for sale in February of 2007 with some 7050 hours and moved down to the Iles Baker and J Smith Syndicate of Gore from 03-05-2007 to go on line with the Wakatipu Aero Club (Inc) at Queenstown - with ownership changing back and forth about three times before Glenorchy Air Services and Tourist Co Ltd of Queenstown listed it from 24-05-2014.
Below we see her at Queenstown on 18-11-2010 wearing Air Wakatipu marks.
And below we have another Terry Fletcher photos - showing ZK-RNX at Queenstown on 15-03-2016 in Glenorchy Air marks.
