As it has been advertised for sale for some time, it was no surprise that the beautiful and unique Avro Anson Mk 1 ZK-RRA has been sold overseas and it was cancelled from the register on 7/10/24.
Here is a nostalgic look back at "Annie" at Classic Fighters 2023. She has been sold to a group in the Czech Republic called RAF Station Czechoslovakia who operate to honour the legacy of Czechoslovak airmen in exile in the RAF during World War II and they operate a pair if WW II Tiger Moths and a Miles Magister painted in their wartime colours. No doubt the Anson with fit right in and provide a unique point of difference to the collection.
We should take the time to give a huge thank you to Bill Reid and his team for the 10 year restoration of the Anson to an amazing standard, and for displaying it widely around the country in the last 12 years. Here is a link to a post that I did on the Anson back in 2012 when it was "new": https://nzcivair.blogspot.com/2012/12/2012-vintage-year-nelson.html
There was also a lot of other stuff happening in the vintage aircraft scene back in 2012!
