In Their Element!

"Duggers" kindly provides the following shots taken at the March 2011 Cessna 180/185 fly-in at Makarora and environs.

Aircraft making the pilgrimage to this South Island haven included:
SIA, FMA, JKH, BGO, KMK, JMH, DMX, CES, DYH, CAK, CBH, JHS, CMW, TUA, BUG, BSP, EEJ, BKG, ROL, DRG, KRM, BUJ, DPE, FDO, JVR and DPG.

    Please can any kind soul tell me what the yellow aircraft is that lives in the hangar. I have been past makarora at least twice and have never been able to stop

    with lots of other 180s/185s

    Is there any other a/c based at Makarora ??

  4. Last time I was in there I spied FMA. In the back corner of the hangar was an all yellow Piper Cub under covers (couldn't see the registration).
    Cessna 206 ZK-JMS was at the fence alongside the hiway, and Hughes ZK-IHH was on the pad at the southern end of the strip.
    Southern Alps Air also operate the Cessna 207 ZK-FQY.
    Probably others as well.

  5. ZK-FMA did not make Masterton the yellow C185 would have been ZK-DLY or SME

  6. ZK-DLY was in the 180/185 line up at Masterton, and ZK-SME was tucked away in its hangar at Masterton (I did not see it outside during the weekend).

  8. I know that ZK-BPA is a yellow Cub, and fits in well, but I could see no markings on this one because of the covers. & I don't poke about in somebodies private hangar without their ok.
