I was rummaging around in my olde shoe box the other day and came across a photo of the Piper PA-28-180D Cherokee ZK-DDB c/n 28-4816.
My first record of this airframe is dated 22-10-1968 when it was listed as N6400J to West Coast Piper Inc of Burbank, California.
It arrived in New Zealand on 23-11-1970 aboard the MV Turakina, and was registered as ZK-DDB to the Airline Flying Club of Ardmore on the same date.
It first flew in NZ on 25-03-1971 and was delivered on the 26th.
Above we see it at the fuel pumps at Paraparaumu, beside the Sinclair Flying School, on 29-03-1971.
It was damaged in an incident at Ardmore on 21-09-1971.
Above we see it at Ardmore in the 'mid 1970's'.
I spied it at Airwork's Christchurch in August 1974 in this all white scheme.
And I noted it at Christchurch in January 1975 in its new Airline Flying Club colour scheme.
Title then moved to Peter Upton who traded as U-Fly Services on 15-06-1976.
Sadly, it was lost on a hillside near Te Pokue on 08-07-1977.
