The annual flyin and AGM of the Sport Aircraft Association of New Zealand took place at Whakatane over the weekend. I could not make it due to other commitments but the attending aircraft were well covered by Jordan Elvy on the Kapiti Coast Plane Spotter blog, and Mark Pattenden on the Tauranga Spotter blog. Thanks guys.
From what I saw there were around 50 homebuilt and sport aircraft on the field over the weekend, all of which have been covered on this blog previously except one:
That one was the Roger Mann Ragwing Special PT 2S ZK-RAW (c/n 2003-BC-1) of Alan Falconer, based near Otorohanga. Alan has rebuilt this aircraft from the previously registered ZK-DBC2 (with the same c/n) but with many improvements including the obviously raised turtle deck which gives the fuselage a much nicer line. We have previously covered ZK-DBC2 HEREAlan previously built and flew the nice TEAM Hi Max ZK-KCM which wore the same colour scheme as the Ragwing, and was withdrawn from use and cancelled on 22/6/20.
