RANS S 7 Couriers of New Zealand (2) - 2006 to 2010 Aircraft

There were another thirteen S 7s registered between 2007 and 2010 as follows:  (none were registered in 2006),

Most of these aircraft have had single owners, which makes their histories easy to chronicle.

ZK-ZCP (c/n 016425) was built by Craig J Pilcher of Timaru, and was first registered to him on 7/8/07.  It is still owned by him and is photo'd above at Timaru on 27/11/10.

ZK-WDW (c/n 03-0333) was built by William D Witherow of Dunedin and was first registered to him on 7/4/08.  It is still owned by him and is photo'd above at Taieri on 17/10/08.

More recently it has been fitted with Roberts Bush Gear and balloon tyres as above.  Thanks to Vince Gardiner for several of the photos in this post.

ZK-ODD (c/n 0793115) was built in the US as N94PR where it was first registered in October 1994.  It was imported into New Zealand by Evan Grooby of Greymouth and registered to the Evan Grooby Family Trust on 6/6/08.  It did fly as ZK-ODD but was damaged in the Greymouth hangar collapse during Easter 2014.  It is currently under repair by Craig Miller at Custom Aviation Ltd.

ZK-ROO2 (c/n 0506430) was built by Howard F Scott of Woodbury and was first registered to him on 6/6/08.  It is photo'd above at the 2009 SAANZ flyin at Ashburton on 7/2/09 and is stll owned by the builder..

ZK-CAB3 (c/n 0707475) was built by Craig Miller and Bill Marks of Dunedin, and was first registered on 7/7/08 to the Craig Miller and Bill Marks Partnership of Mosgiel.  Its first flight was on 17/7/08, flown by Kelvin Wright.  It is photo'd above at the 2009 SAANZ flyin at Ashburton on 7/2/09.  On 20/5/10 ownership transferred to the Bill Marks and Rex Moore Partnership of Mosgiel.

ZK-PJF (c/n 0807481) was built by Peter J French of Mosgiel and was first registered to him on 18/11/08.  It is photo'd above at Tuatapere.

Alan Weir of Runanga imported two S 7s from the US in 2008.  ZK-XIL2 (c/n 0408045) is ex N4312C which was first registered in the US in January 1992, and was first registered in New Zealand on 22/12/08.  As can be seen from the photo, it is powered by a Rotav 582 two stroke engine which may be the only one in New Zealand.  The registration is linked to the Weir family, as Alan's son Aaron owned Bantam B 20 ZK-XIL for a time.  Alan says that he prefers the 582 aircraft for local flights.

And the second of Alan's S 7s is ZK-NAW2 (c/n 0294128) which is ex N52819 which was first registered in the US in January 1995.  It was registered to William Alan Weir on 21/1/09 and has the standard Rotax 912 engine.  NAW stands for Nola and Alan Weir.  Thanks very much to Alan Weir for the above two photos.

ZK-JLS2 (c/n 0708513) was built by Craig Miller of Custom Aviation Ltd for Brent A Esler of Christchurch. and it was first registered on 15/5/09.  JLS stands for Jonathon Livingstone Seagull.  It is photo'd above in a hangar at Rangiora on 22/10/10.  On 25/1/13 ownership transferred to Mrs K Smith of Wanaka.

On 1/1/14 ownership transferred to the Rietveld and McClintock Syndicate of Cromwell, and sometime around this time it was modified with the Roberts Bush Gear and large ballonn tyres, as in the above photo taken at Custom Aviation Ltd at Taieri.

ZK-JRB2 (c/n 0904377) was built by John R Brown of Temuka and was first registered to him on 19/10/09.  It is photo'd above at Russell Brodie's Rangitata Island airfield on 18/12/11.

ZK-TIK2 (c/n 0506435) was built by John L Paton of Invercargill and was first registered to him on 12/11/09.  I think it lives at Te Anau and I got the above photo from the Te Anau Airport webpage.

ZK-RPB (c/n 0809530) was built by Craig Miller of Custom Aviation and was first registered to Rodney D Bamford of Balclutha on 2/6/10.  RPB stands for Roney and Pam Bamford.  The above photo was taken outside the Custom Aviation hangar at Taieri.

And finally for this bunch, ZK-ZKC (c/n 0809529) was registered to the Hedgehope Trust of Dunedin on 10/12/10.  It is based at Taieri where the above photo was taken on 20/2/14.
